Why I built Firmoscop
In Romania, answering «should I give this company payment terms?» means checking five public registries and losing an hour. I built Firmoscop to make it one verdict: green, yellow, or red.
Every Romanian company that sells B2B eventually faces the same question: do I give this client payment terms, or do I ask for the money upfront? The answer exists — but it’s scattered across five different places: ANAF (the tax authority), the Ministry of Finance, the Trade Registry, the court portals, and the Insolvency Bulletin.
Anyone who has done the check manually knows how it goes: five websites, five interfaces from another decade, an hour lost — and in the end you still have to draw the conclusion yourself, hoping you didn’t miss the one insolvency filing that mattered.
One verdict, not five reports
Firmoscop starts from a simple conviction: a business owner doesn’t want data, they want an answer. The platform aggregates the official sources and condenses them into a payment-risk verdict — green, yellow, or red — with everything behind it traceable: every data point with its source and its date.
- Insolvency and court cases — the signals that hurt the most
- Financial statements: revenue, profit, employees, trends
- State debts and overdue budget obligations
- Connected company networks through shareholders and administrators — because a person’s track record moves from one SRL to the next
The basic report is free, no account required. That’s not a discount strategy; it’s the belief that checking your business partners should be a normal reflex in the Romanian economy, not a luxury.
Built AI-native, operated solo
The part that excites me as a builder: Firmoscop is AI-native from the ground up. Alongside the human interface, the platform exposes an API and an MCP server — meaning any AI agent can verify companies, prospect for leads, and monitor risk programmatically, with the same capabilities a human user gets.
And one more thing, for anyone wondering how far you can push this today: Firmoscop is built end-to-end with AI and operated by one person, from product to production. I wrote about the agent system that makes that possible here.
Who it’s for
The company shipping goods on 30-day payment terms. The accountant vetting new clients. The freelancer who wants to know whether the agency hiring them actually pays its collaborators. Honestly — almost anyone who issues invoices in Romania.
